Urgent: House Committee to Consider Politicizing Nonprofits

Posted on by & filed under Advocacy.

Once again, congress is trying to politicize nonprofits. Section 112 of the FSGG spending bill seeks to remove the longstanding protection that helps keep charities non-partisan.

Repealing or weakening the “Johnson Amendment” could be catastrophic for charitable nonprofits and foundations.

Take action: On Wednesday, June 13, the House Appropriations Committee will take up the bill with the harmful anti-Johnson Amendment rider. Nonprofits of all types – not just houses of worship – need to express to Committee members your strong opposition to politicizing our sector. All nonprofits in Nevada are encouraged to email, write, and tweet Congressman Mark Amodei, who sits on the committee, and deliver this simple message:

“Partisanship has NO place in charitable organizations – whether houses of worship, charitable nonprofits, or private foundations. Vote to remove Section 112 from the FSGG bill.”
