Application Deadline: January 31, 2011 – 5 pm
The Alliance of Nevada Nonprofits (ANN) in conjunction with Nevada Volunteers is announcing the Skills-Based Volunteer and Nonprofit Capacity Building Project, a pilot project which may be of interest to you. The purpose of the project is to bring needed services, through the use of skilled volunteers, to nonprofits, at no cost to the nonprofit, to increase the capacity of the organization to meet its stated mission.
Earlier in 2010, Nevada Volunteers conducted an initial survey of nonprofits and found that assistance with financial management and marketing were two primary areas of need. Based upon this information, a collaborative partnership between ANN, Nevada Volunteers, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Washoe County (RSVP) and the College of Business at the University of Nevada was formed in order to recruit volunteers to assist our Northern Nevada nonprofits with projects in the area of financial management and marketing as well as other areas that might arise through the application process.
If you would like to apply to be considered for the pilot program, the online application requires approximately 30 – 60 minutes to complete. Applications must be submitted no later than Monday, January 31 at 5 pm. The number of projects accepted will be determined based on the number of qualified applications submitted and the partners’ ability to recruit appropriate volunteers. Applications will be screened in early February with final selection and notification of participation communicated by March 1. It is estimated that projects undertaken in this pilot would be completed before the end of 2011.
It is our hope that through this pilot, one or more nonprofits will be able to build their capacity. In addition, the collaborative partners will refine the application, volunteer recruitment and project process so that the pilot can transition into an on-going project that will enable ANN to continue to offer skill-based volunteers throughout the year to nonprofits in need of services.
If you have any questions regarding this letter or the pilot program, or to receive a Word version of the application, please contact Janet Wright, Nevada Volunteers at firstname.lastname@example.org or 775-825-1900.
